On August 23, 2023, the Chinese Embassy in Namibia held China-Namibia Business Networking Reception aimed at promoting the working relationship and friendship between the Chinese Embassy and the relevant Namibian Government Ministries and Agencies which have direct responsibilities for Namibia-China business relations, as well as between the Embassy and the local business community including the Chinese companies in Namibia. The event was attended by about 180 guests including the representatives from the Namibian Government Ministries and Agencies, local business and other communities, as well as Chinese companies and nationals in Namibia.

In his remarks, Chinese Ambassador in Namibia Zhao Weiping gave a briefing on the rapid recovery of post-pandemic Chinese economy. He pointed out, thanks to the policy guidance of Chinese Government and its rich toolkit, the Chinese economy continues to show strong tenacity and inner vitality as well as huge potential. The fundamentals sustaining China’s sound economic growth in the long run remain unchanged. Zhao also reaffirmed China’s positive attitude to deepen China-Namibia economic cooperation. He said, China-Namibia relationship is more than an ordinary relationship between two developing countries because of the profound traditional friendship between the two countries, and the Chinese side will work hard to deepen its practical cooperation with Namibia in all fields.

Mr. Haihambo, Executive Director of the Ministry of Industrialization and Trade of Namibia, made his remarks on behalf of the Namibian side. He spoke highly of the fruitful results of bilateral economic and trade cooperation and also said he hopes that we will have continuous engagement and realization of all the objectives as set out in our commitments under the One Belt One Road initiative and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.
